High Country WDB presents at Workforce Commission meeting

Adrian Tait, Executive Director of High Country Workforce Development Board, presented to the North Carolina Workforce Commission quarterly meeting on August 21st, held at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC. Adrian showed examples of how three Workforce Development Boards collaborated under a regional partnership called Future Workforce Alliance to help businesses expand and grow their business. This expansion was made possible through the efforts of High Country, Western Piedmont, Region C Workforce Boards, and a State Energy Sector Partnership Grant. Adrian also gave an example of how their Workforce Board acted quickly to form a job fair a day or two after an announced layoff in Wilkes County. This responsiveness helped 50 employees that had just lost their jobs, find new jobs in the area.
