On July 22, 2014, the United States Congress passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) [Public Law 113-128] which rescinded the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998.  The new law went into effect July 1, 2015.

WIOA requires each workforce development board to develop and submit to the state, in partnership with the local chief elected official, a comprehensive four-year plan.  The WIOA four-year plan is in effect July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2024 and receives an annual update.

In accordance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Section 108(d), the workforce development board shall make copies of the proposed local plan available to the public through electronic and other means; allow for public comment not later than the end of the 30 day period beginning on the date the proposed plan is made available; and, include with submission of the local plan any comments that represent disagreement with the plan.

Therefore, the public is invited to review the current High Country Local Area Plan for Program Year 2023.
